Audi Q7: Sales to grow slowly

Audi Q7
The Automotive News Europe is reporting that Johan de Nysschen, executive vice president of Audi of America, is expecting the Audi Q7 sales to grow slowly.
"I get scratchy with suggestions that the Cayenne, Touareg and Q7 are all the same vehicle," Johan de Nysschen, executive vice president of Audi of America Inc., said this week at the Frankfurt auto show, where the seven-seat Q7 was unveiled.

"Audi engineers have changed it completely," de Nysschen said.

"The wheelbase is longer, it has been lengthened, we use our own Quattro drivetrain and all Audi electronics and safety systems," he said.

The Q7's longer wheelbase means the vehicle has better handling and driving dynamics than other SUVs and is similar to a sedan, de Nysschen said.

Even with the more carlike ride, Audi is positioning the vehicle as "the sport of sport utilities," and will launch it with a 350 hp, 4.2-liter V-8 engine. A new 280 hp, 3.6-liter V-6 will come later.
