Audi Q7: Serious muscle
South African website "Motoring" saw the Audi Q7 and believes it has serious muscle.
Audi has revealed a hybrid version of its Q7 SUV at the Frankfurt auto show. Depending on public reaction, this production-ready concept could become a reality by 2008.
The concept study, Audi says, uses a 4.2-litre, fuel-injected V8 petrol engine and an electric motor to reduce overall fuel consumption by almost 13 percent compared to the conventional Q7.
This is achieved, the maker says, without sacrificing performance. It claims acceleration from 0-100km/h in 6.8sec and top-gear overtaking acceleration from 80-120km/h of seven seconds.
And Audi says the 2410kg hybrid will do all that on 12 litres/100km - a considerable improvement over a conventional V8 SUVs.
