Audi: Technology in Shape

Fourtitude has an article about the Audi Design for which quality accessories are designed at "Konzept Design München", a world of products around the Audi brand.
If the expression “Audi design” makes you think of stylish cars, you’re almost on the right track. But note the “almost”. Perhaps you should go to the district of Schwabing in Munich and look for a former car repair shop on Kurfürstenstraße. Here, where car mechanics once toiled behind a rather modest gateway, designers work in an area of about 800 square metres on inspirational ideas for the Audi, SEAT and Lamborghini brands. But not all of these ideas have to do with bodywork, wheels and an engine. Many of them will go on to tick, many of them can be packed or carried and you will even be able to travel on many of them one day. In short, what is developed here can be summed up by the term “lifestyle articles” – for example, watches, bags, bicycles and any other Audi products that bear the impressive name “Audi design”. Because it’s all about design, and not only when we’re talking about vehicles.
At Konzept Design München, a team of about ten designers works on three different areas. The “automotive concept” - classic vehicle design; the “product concept” - designing accessories; and “concept innovation” - the visionary glimpse into the future. “It’s especially important to us to be working in a team with an international dimension,” says Artemis Karoussos, coordinator of the “product concept”. Representatives from a wide variety of cultures and countries, for example, Greece, Russia and even Australia, work closely together and develop ideas. “This is why our working languages are German and English.” The studio is viewed as a communication platform – seeing beyond the ends of their noses is definitely a requirement.
