Bugatti Veyron: Speedmaster

Bugatti Veyron
German car magazine "Auto Motor und Sport" got the chance to test drive the Bugatti Veyron and their chief editor Bernd Ostmann broke the 400 km/h speed mark!
He is writing about his experience with the fastest and most expensive sports car ever.
There is a well-defined procedure to break the 400 km/h: A memo is handed to you with the title "checklist Vmax drive" and the most important requisite is the second key. Next to the driver's seat you have to plug in the second key and turn it. After that the display is showing "topspeed".
The gun is loaded now!

After a first attempt which he had to stop because the pipe temperature went to 970 degrees celcius, so he was ordered to cool it down first for the next attempt. He "only" reached 380 km/h. Second attempt reached 398 km/h due to a wet road.
But then! He finally made it and drove the Bugatti Veyron with more than 400 km/h.

This must be a really great experience! We envy him. Congrats for that!

AMS also has a great picture gallery up and running. Check it!
