Audi TT: 2005 Audi Quattro Performance award

HM Plant Honda Racing's Ryuichi Kiyonari swapped two wheels for four and won the prestigious 2005 Audi Quattro Performance award by a landslide.
At the beginning of the series, long-term British Superbike Championship supporters, Audi, devised and implemented an award as a means of recognising the season's most outstanding all-round rider. Using a simple scoring system across each of the 13 rounds, points were awarded to the riders who scored the best qualifying time in both sessions, the achiever of pole position, the rider who claimed the fastest lap in both Superbike races and the race winners.
Not only did 23-year-old Kiyo secure the award two rounds prematurely, but he did so by an advantage of 19 points over his nearest rival Gregorio Lavilla. His prize was a brand new Audi TT Quattro Sport worth £40,000, which was presented to the young Japanese rider at Brands Hatch.
"I'm really happy to have won the award," enthused Kiyo. "I've already had offers from Michael [Rutter] to buy the car from me! I won't be selling it though. It's really good to have been recognised for my achievements in this year's series. Even though I didn't win the title this year, I am proud to have won the Audi Quattro Performance award."
