VW Polo GTI: GTI turbo clout for VW's Polo hatch
South African website "Motoring" also has an article about the VW Polo GTI.
Volkswagen has unveiled first details and images of the most powerful production Polo yet - a smaller clone of the Golf GTI that will have its international debut at the Tokyo auto show on October 19.
It will be relelased in South Africa in mid-2006.
This is the hottest Polo yet built – way more powerful than the previous one launched back in 1998 that had only 94kW and was barely able to top 200km/h.
The 2006 Polo GTI will have the 1.8-litre, four-cylinder, 20-valve, turbo/intercooler petrol engine already seen in other VW products that, in GTI guise, will be capable of 110kW, 229Nm, 0-100km/h in 8.2 sec and a top speed of 216km/h.
By the way, this car is powered by the Audi TT engine!
