Audi A4 Cabriolet: Road test by TopGear

Audi A4 Cabriolet
Seems to be road test season over at TopGear. This time they took the Audi A4 cabriolet for a ride.
Driving along the N97 from Nice to St Tropez between mountains and sea I find myself in a very happy place. The reason? The new Audi A4 cabriolet.

I'm in the 233bhp, six-cylinder 3.0 TDI and it's certainly got the measure of this hilly topography, 332lb ft of TDI torque making short work of pretty much everything.

What's more, the addition of permanent quattro four-wheel drive adds that feeling of surety you never quite get in the front-wheel drive cars.

Saying that, the A4 still manages to feel light and responsive, especially compared to something like the Saab 9-3 convertible, which suddenly seems quite leaden and heavy by comparison.

So what's new? Well, Audi has given the A4 its standard singleframe grille, as well as new lights front and rear. The changes make it look more aggressive, and - as with all decent face-lifts - it's sharpened up the lines.

The interior is equally stylish and with the optional acoustic hood, almost as quiet as the saloon. The roof's also quick - just 21 seconds from start to finish and super easy to operate.

You can also raise or lower it at speeds of up to 19mph just by pressing a single button. Bliss.
