Audi Q7: Overview report

"MSN Autos" has an overview report about the Audi Q7.
Making its debut at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Q7 is Audi’s direct shot at other luxury crossovers such as the Lexus RX and BMW X5. Based loosely on the Pikes Peak concept shown a few years ago, the Q7 will share a platform with the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne.
Q7 is an attractively weighty, well-resolved design that's a distinctively Audi take on the sporty SUV. "It's the coupe of SUVs," said Audi's Prof Dr. Martin Winterkorn. Clever styling gives the car tall, flat nose (complete with trademark deep trapezoidal grille) and sides, but a steeply raked windscreen and a coupe-like swept, descending roofline.
Luggage space is limited with all seven seats in place—but with the third row folded into the floor, there's reasonable capacity. The extensive technology list ranges from the expected (ESP, hill-descent control, variable ground clearance) to the innovative (side-radar for lane-change protection).
