Audi S6: Likely to be on display at NAIAS

The Audi S6, which will also receive Lamborghini's V10 like the Audi S8, will be probably shown at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
"That is probably correct," an Audi spokeswoman told Inside Line when asked about rumors posted on the Internet. The company showed its new S8 sedan at the recent Tokyo Motor Show.
Like the S8, the S6 will use a modified version of the V10 engine from the Lamborghini Gallardo coupe. The S8 for the U.S. market will have about 450 horsepower, and the S6 a bit less. "It may be somewhere around 420 or 410," said the spokeswoman.
The S6 will go on sale in the third quarter of 2006 in the United States, and the S8 will go on sale in the fourth quarter. Audi tries to have S versions of most of its cars, although the company is "not sure yet" whether it will offer an S version of its forthcoming Q7 SUV, according to the spokeswoman. Audi is also planning to continue offering its RS hot-rod brand, but with much greater exclusivity.
