Audi TT: First pics of the next-generation Audi TT!

Audi TT
Here are the first pics of the next-generation Audi TT found in several German magazines this weekend.
The Autoblog Spanish team has turned up a real treat for us over on this side of the pond – the first images and details on the upcoming 2007 Audi TT set to debut in 2006. These images and more like them have surfaced on at least two German websites, Auto T-online and Autobild, and both sites seem to corroborate that this indeed will be the next Audi TT. The rear of the new TT will be a familiar site, while the front end borrows heavily from the Shooting Brake concept that debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show.

As has always been the case, we expect the new TT to be built using the VW Golf platform. There will be a total of five engines available including three four cylinders rated at 170, 200 and 240 horsepower, respectively. The TT will also get the corporate 3.2L V6 in 250-hp trim, as well as a 2.0L Biturbo producing no less than 350 hp in the RS model. The TT roadster will also likely debut in 2007 in a 2+2 configuration.

Time will tell if the new TT evolves into a more aggressive sports car than the current model, which many pan as being more a rolling work of art than a true performance car. While you can pretty far in this world on looks alone, Audi’s second effort for the TT will need to perform on par with its peers if it hopes to retain and attract new customers for the coupe.
