VW: Planning Chinese "people's car"

VW
According to South African "Motoring" VW is planning an exclusive Chinese "people's cars".
German automotive industry weekly Automobilwoche has quoted a manager at the German auto group as saying there was now corporate consensus that the need for such a car was not urgent.

It would be a tough sedan with modern styling and plenty of cabin and boot space to replace the Santana 2000/3000, which is dated in both look and technology, and a Jetta model.

The plan would involve a market launch in 2009, with the car to sell for the equivalent of €10 000 to €12 000.
