VW Touareg Kong edition: Not coming to the US!

VW Touareg Kong edition
Seems like the recently announced VW Touareg Kong special edition is not coming to the US due to the unfavorable exchange rate between Germany and the United States.
In a statement released on Thursday, VW outlined the features of the Touareg Kong. The special-edition SUV is outfitted with 19-inch alloy wheels in sterling silver finish, silver-colored roof bars, a chrome package, and "King Kong" badging. The interior is set up to mimic a movie theater with darkened rear windows, two cupholders in the center armrest, and a rear-seat entertainment system with wireless headphones.

The vehicle comes with several engine choices, including a 237-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6 and a 308-hp V10 TDI diesel. It will be priced at 48,225 euros or about $57,000. VW told Inside Line it plans to build approximately 5,000 Touareg Kong models for sale only in Europe. Peter Jackson's remake of the classic movie will make its debut December 14.
