Audi A3: For high-speed moms and dads!

Audi AG, the German automaker that reigns supreme along the grueling 24-hour endurance track at Le Mans, has created a five-door pack mule with the hooves to win the Kentucky Derby.

It's called the A3 Sportback, and this solid, silent and swift Teutonic carry-all is pushing mini-station-wagon design and performance to the outer limits.

First, throw out the notion that a compact car priced between $25,000 and $40,000 is incapable of being comfortable and luxurious. Then turn up "Bat Out of Hell" on the A3's standard 10 speakers, or eject the navigation disc from the separate DVD satellite system and install a Vin Diesel movie.
