Audi Allroad: Spy shots!

We now found the second series of spy shots of the upcoming Audi Allroad which actually show the real deal, after the first series has shown the Audi Allroad in the clothes of an Audi A6.
In the 4x4 division of Audi, boffins have been heading off-tarmac in the new Audi A6 Allroad. At first glance, this test model might look like a standard Avant, but compare the wheel arches with that of the standard A6 and it’s clear this is no ordinary load-lugger. In fact, the pictures show the real car in the metal for the very first time; the car was snapped at Volkswagen’s highly guarded test-centre in northern Sweden. Following in the tracks of the previous Allroad, the newcomer will have variable-height suspension, offering better ground-clearance to go with the uprated quattro all-wheel-drive system. Showroom models will be set apart from conventional A6 estates by chunky plastic body mouldings and unique alloys. Aiming to offer a more car-like alternative to the Q7 SUV, the Allroad will come as an Avant only. It’s likely to go on sale this summer, borrowing engines from the A6 range. That means there will be a high-performance V8, but the punchy 3.0-litre TDI oil-burner is set to be the top-seller.
