Audi: Design Studio moves to Santa Monica

Audi and VW are moving their designers from Simi Valley to a hipper locale, to Santa Monica!
Volkswagen of America Inc. is moving its design center from Simi Valley, a culturally mainstream suburb of Los Angeles, to hipper Santa Monica, Calif., in about a month.
The move will help the staff plug into Southern California's car culture.
Derek Jenkins, VW's chief U.S. designer, discussed the move with Staff Reporter Kathy Jackson at the Los Angeles auto show last week.
Why are you moving?
We wanted to get deeper into Southern California. We want to be right in the city. Santa Monica is Volkswagen-Audi central.
