Audi Roadjet: Taking aim at the compact-crossover segment

Audi could target the compact-crossover segment with the Audi Roadjet concept from the Detroit Motor Show.
Although Audi declined to divulge specific production plans, the Roadjet looks virtually production-ready in many respects. The five-door sports a tall roofline and the massive grille that has become the new signature for the brand.
Under the hood is a 300-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6 direct-injection gasoline engine that drives all four wheels through a seven-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG).
The Roadjet features a new Audi system called "Drive Select" that permits the driver to pick from several different vehicle characteristics at the push of a button. Three modes — Comfort, Dynamic, and Sport — alter the steering, suspension, and transmission response as well as the engine map.
Technical highlights include LED headlamps and taillamps and a flexible seating configuration that can accommodate up to four adult passengers and a child.
Between the sliding rear seats is a system of rails that can hold a storage box with center armrest, an espresso machine or a rear-facing baby carrier.
