VW Eos: VW's heavenly CC hits road

VW Eos
We found a test drive with a pre-production VW Eos including some nice pictures. Enjoy! Hopefully the summer and the VW Eos will come soon.
More impressive is the transparent central part of the roof, which slides back at the touch of a button. Elsewhere, the cabin will be familiar to Golf owners, with an ergonomic if unexciting layout.

Flick a switch and the panels cleverly fold away in only 25 seconds, stacking into a neat sandwich in the boot. As a result, the luggage capacity drops from 380 litres to 210 litres, while access to the load area is also severely restricted. Still, once luggage is safely stowed, the Eos drives like a typical Volkswagen - well balanced and agile. The set-up isn't too firm, yet the chassis is stiff enough to provide plenty of involvement.

Powered by a 148bhp 2.0-litre FSI engine, the Eos covers 0-62mph in 9.8 seconds, although a 138bhp TDI diesel and a flagship 247bhp V6 petrol car will hold more appeal for keen drivers.
