Audi Q7: Auctioned off at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing event

The Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards® viewing event will auction off an Audi Q7 on March 5, 2006.
For 14 years, the Elton John AIDS Foundation has hosted one of the most exclusive Oscars® night celebrations: the Academy Awards® Viewing Dinner and After Party, with all proceeds benefiting the Foundation. Past guests have included Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Donald Trump, Denzel Washington, Hilary Swank, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman, Sir Paul McCartney, Donatella Versace, Mary J. Blige, Eva Longoria, Christina Aguilera, Natalie Cole, Halle Berry, Paula Abdul, Joss Stone, Jeffrey Katzenberg, John Waters, Beck, and Sir Ben Kingsley - just to name a few. This year, Audi is proud to co-sponsor the event, along with Chopard and VH1.

The black tie event, which takes place at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 5th. As celebrities and VIPs arrive in chauffeured Audi A8s and Audi Q7s, they will walk down the red carpet to the event's cocktail party. At 5 p.m., dinner will be served as guests view the awards ceremony live. Immediately following the ceremony, an auction will be held, featuring the first Audi Q7 to be owned in North America; all proceeds from the auction will benefit the Foundation. Later that night, Sir Elton and a surprise musical guest will perform live.

As one of the first owners of the Audi Q7 in Europe, Sir Elton is one of the vehicle's most famous fans. The singer first featured the Pikes Peak quattro concept, forerunner of the performance SUV, at his 2005 White Tie and Tiara Ball in England, another of the Foundation's annual fundraising events. There, Audi offered its first car off the British production line as a raffle prize. When the raffle winner donated the Audi Q7 to be auctioned, it raised an additional £200,000. Money raised in the event helped to kick-start an antiretroviral (ARV) program for 3,300 children in Kenya.
