VW Passat R GT: Aerodynamic appearance package confirmed

VW of America has confirmed an aerodynamic appearance package for the VW Passat which will turn it into an VW Passat R GT, at least from the looks.

But hey, what happened to the built-in white Sony PSP's? We want to see that too!

It's based on the R GT concept vehicle shown at the 2005 Special Equipment Market Association's (SEMA) show last November, and will be a $4,500 option. Customers will also be able to purchase the components à la carte at all VW dealerships.

The appearance package creates a "racy and aggressive" look for the Passat, VW said, with front and rear skirts with color-contrasting elements, a honeycomb-design grille, a side sill kit, an integrated tailgate lip, oval-shaped tailpipe trim and 18-inch titanium-colored alloy wheels with 18-inch high-performance Pirelli summer tires.

The Passat R GT concept and appearance package are the result of VW's Moonraker project, a team of employees who generate vehicles and options designed for the U.S. market.
