Bentley Continental Flying Spur: Preview

Bentley Continental Flying Spur
Once again a quite late "preview" of a car by Auto Express. This time it's the Bentley Continental Flying Spur.
Sharing its nose with the Continental GT, the Flying Spur is an imposing machine. Its giant proportions pay homage to the stately Arnage, but it's inside where it really has to get it right. Now available with a near limitless range of Mulliner coach-built options, the car feels even more special. Whether you are sitting in the front or rear, you are guaranteed first-class travel, while additions such as drilled pedals and a bevelled gearknob give a sporty edge.

It's a breathtaking performer, too. The 552bhp W12 hurtles the saloon from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds, while top speed is close to 200mph. Even more impressive is that the saloon handles well. The steering is direct, but the optional 20-inch wheels of our test car result in a surprisingly fidgety ride.

For many, there is no more desirable badge than Bentley, and being treated like royalty at every turn is something truly unique to the brand.
