Bugatti Veyron: Selling like hotcakes!
The Bugatti Veyron seems to be very popular in the US!
The Detroit sales total compares favorably with high-income hotbeds like California's Silicon Valley. Bugatti has taken orders for a mere 30 Veyrons in the entire United States, Bugatti Troy sales manager Matthew Vazana said. Bugatti has nine dealers in the United States.
Three of the buyers live in Michigan and one in Toronto.
Powered by a 16-cylinder turbocharged 8.0-liter engine, the Veyron reaches 60 m.p.h. in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 253 m.p.h.
Bugatti plans to build a mere 50 Veyrons a year and stop when the total reaches 300.
Despite the astronomical price, Bugatti, which is owned by Volkswagen AG, reportedly loses money on every Veyron it sells.
"There's never been a car like this, and there probably never will be again," Vazana said.
Bugatti Troy expects to deliver its first car in October, and the dealership is working with three more potential local Veyron buyers.
