VW Eos 2.0 T-FSI Sport: Road test

TopGear did another of their road tests, this time with the VW Eos 2.0 T-FSI Sport.
In the run up to the World Cup, Germany went through something of a rebranding. John 'don't mention the war' Cleese was even drafted in to encourage us to take a fresh look at this livelier, more modern, more relaxed nation.
It's a spirit of reinvention that German industrial giant Volkswagen has fully thrown itself into the idea of, even going so far as to suggest that it's trying to inject more Latin spirit into its cars. The Eos is the first of these apparent new-age VWs.
Not only is the motor very quiet, but VW has done a good job of hiding all the mechanism behind some cloth, so when the roof's up it all looks very neat - even the Mercedes SL doesn't get that. The pièce de résistance and unique feature is the sunroof.
It's virtually guaranteed that all your mates will have an 'oooh' moment when the front section of the roof slides up and back, even though some will talk of overkill.
