Audi R8: Ebay auction to feature historic final race and victory

An Ebay auction for grid kids is featuring the historic final race and victory of the Audi R8.
On July 1, 2006 at Lime Rock Park, the greatest car in American Le Mans Series history - the Audi R8 - raced its final race. During its reign, it had won 50 American Le Mans Series races, six American Le Mans Series titles, and four 24 Hours of Le Mans. It retired on that day, but not before finishing on the top of the victory stand one last time.
Available for purchase is the champagne bottle that was popped on the victory stand by Audi drivers Allan McNish and Dindo Capello that afternoon. In commemoration of the win, they each autographed the bottle and donated it for auction to benefit the Salvation Army Grid Kids.
This autographed champagne podium bottle, signed by two of Audi's greatest drivers, represents the Audi R8's final race and win, the Grand Lady retiring after the historic victory, and is the ONLY one in existence. Quite a keepsake in the annals of sports car racing!
To bid on this item, go to www.ebay.com. The item can be found under "Sports Memorabilia, Cards & Fan Shop, Autographs Original, Racing Other". It is item # 140015337578. Bidding begins at 2:00 p.m. EDT /11:00 PDT Saturday, August 5 and concludes at that same time a week later, August 12.
All proceeds from the auction will be distributed directly to the Salvation Army Grid Kids fund and will be handled via Ebay's MissionFish. Monies raised will support Salvation Army centers for disadvantage youth. The Salvation Army Grids Kids is the official charity of the American Le Mans Series, which hosts groups of young people at each of its races during the season.
