Porsche 911 Turbo: Great Review
Here's a nice review of the awesome 911 Turbo - what a great title "A 911 Turbo like no other."
I'm behind the wheel of Porsche's brand new 911 Turbo, and I'm doing 150 mph down the Autobahn.
The first thing I notice, besides the G-force of accelerating from a standstill to 60 mph in less than four seconds, is how normal and comfortable it feels to cruise at 130 mph and faster. In fact, driving is so comfortable at these speeds that a less cautious driver might feel inclined to steer with only one hand.
Bringing the car up to 150 mph and faster harbors another discovery: Not only does the Porsche feel as stable as it does at slower speeds, with the famous roar of the turbo motor kicking in at 5,000 rpm, the 911 Turbo feels like it could do more -- much more.
However, I decide the car's 193-mph top speed (that's right, 193 mph) is a better match for a more talented driver, especially when whizzing past other cars that might suddenly swerve into my lane.
I set out to see what the car could do on the German Autobahn between Stuttgart and the Swiss border, where there are plenty of long stretches of open freeway with no speed limits. I picked an early Sunday morning soon after dawn for the test drive, avoiding the gridlock that often clogs Germany's freeways.
Porsche's sixth-generation 911 Turbo is, for all intents and purposes, a race car that is also street-legal.
