VW: Aiming at nostalgia niche

VW Scirocco
Interesting read about VW's product strategy, especially the VW Scirocco.
Europe's largest carmaker, is reviving the Scirocco hatchback coupe, banking on nostalgia for a model popularized in the 1970s and 1980s on such U.S. TV shows as "Saturday Night Live."

"We are trying to translate the feeling of the Scirocco," Wolfgang Bernhard, chief of the Volkswagen brand, said Thursday at an unveiling of a metallic green prototype of the car at Berlin's historic Tempelhof Airport, the base of the Berlin Airlift in the Cold War. "But we are not trying to literally copy the Scirocco of the past," he added.
