Audi R8: Will be shown at Australian International Motor Show

Audi R8
Audi’s stunning new R8 sportscar will be unveiled at the Australian International Motor Show this month, following its worldwide debut at the Paris Motor Show in late September.
"I am pleased to announce that the R8 completes Audi's glittering line-up of supercars at the Australian International Motor Show," confirmed managing director, Joerg Hofmann today.

Visitors to the Audi stand will be far from disappointed with the R8 joining the brand new Audi TT Coupe, soon-to-be-launched S6 and S8 models, and for the first time – the Audi R10 diesel-powered race car which won Le Mans in June this year.

Confirmed for limited sale in Australia, the new R8 is likely to arrive on our shores in the second half of 2007. Pricing and specification is yet to be confirmed.

The close and intensive link between this brand new production car and motorsport at Audi was proven very recently in Paris by the presentation of the Audi R8 prior to the official opening of the Salon d`Automobile. Audi drivers, Tom Kristensen and Jacky Ickx, presented the new spectacular sports car together with Audi Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn.

The launch of the brand’s new sporty spearhead (the production R8) marks the revival of the Audi R8, the five-times winner of Le Mans. The Le Mans quattro concept car was first unveiled internationally in 2004. In the same year, the concept car also appeared at the Melbourne Motor Show.
