Audi RS4 Avant: Road test by TopGear

A road test by TopGear with the Audi RS4 Avant. And you know what? They love it! As do we.

The new car, however, turned up as a three-box first, probably aiming to stick a flag in the performance saloon summit before the next BMW M3 could even start its ascent. And it's done a bloody good job of it.

BMW's M-division must've gone grey to a man when the RS4 started making waves in the motoring press, but I'm afraid there's more grief to come. The big gun in Audi's RS arsenal is still definitely the Avant.

There's something indefatigably cool about a car that's shit-off-a-shovel fast, but eminently practical as well. And the thing you see here is very definitely both.

If you're in the market for either, you're a lucky bastard, but the Avant is the one we'll really envy.
