Audi TT: Car of the Year at FifthGear
Another car of the year award, this time from FifthGear. Congrats to Audi!
Despite which, 2006 was about as unanimous as anyone can remember. Once we'd surveyed the field of runners and riders, one car stood out head and shoulders above the (admittedly very talented) competition - the new Audi TT.
Its real strength is that it blurs the boundaries between the two different categories that most of us divide cars into. There are everyday cars, the ones we can hope to own without being called up to the first eleven by a major Premiership team. And then there are the dream cars, those we can ogle from a distance and mentally put on the list for consideration when our seven numbers come up. Yet the TT, to perhaps a greater extent than anything else on the road, falls into both categories.
