Porsche Cayman: Roadtested!

We made it very clear when we tested the Cayman S (read our review here) that it's much more than a Boxster with a hard top, and that 'big shot' journalists seem to disagree with that! And that doesn't help when reviews start off as below. Nevertheless, it's still a great read of a brilliant car, so enjoy!
In simple terms the Cayman is nothing more than a Boxster coupé. It’s such an obvious development of the convertible, it’s surprising that it took Porsche close to ten years to transform the original. There are subtle differences to the nose of the Cayman, but it’s at the back with the muscular rear wings and oblique roofline that the changes are most apparent. Initially sold with a bespoke 3.4-litre engine – flat six of course – the Cayman soon gained a cheaper 2.7-litre option; both of these Cayman engines found their way into the Boxster in 2006.
