VW: Wolfgang Bernhard steps down

Wolfgang Bernhard
Well, this was a suggested move due to the latest reorganization of the Volkswagen Group by its new boss Dr. Martin Winterkorn.
Wolfgang Bernhard has announced his departure from Volkswagen, effective January 31.

The move, largely expected following recent boardroom upheavals at Europe's number-one carmaker, appears to leave the steely German with an uncertain future. However, rumors making the rounds of the German automotive industry on Thursday suggest Bernhard may not be cooling his heels for too long, with suggestions that he is strongly considering a return to his former employer, DaimlerChrysler, to head up Chrysler Group's operations in North America.
