Audi R8: South African review
Here's another nice review of the Audi R8, this time from South Africa.
Apply all this new-found expertise to a fabulous-looking mid-engined sports coupé and there's no reason why Audi shouldn't go chasing Porsche 911s.
But the Audi has more exotic castings and extrusions, and its engine is celebrated, Ferrari-fashion, by being on full view beneath the rear window. The engine bay even lights up at night: street theatre redefined.
And the R8 looks sensational, like a widened, flattened TT with giant holes blasted in its nose and tail and crazy "sideblades" slicing across the flanks.
This is no dressed-up regular Audi that's come out the far side of a topological distortion equation; look at the detailing of the brakes, the smooth underfloor with its downforce ducts, the LEDs that frame the headlamp apertures and act as sidelights.
This is a genuinely exotic car.
