While it is certain that future variants will be produced, Audi is very much still in the planning stages. de Nysschen, for example, asked our opinion on whether Audi would do better with an R8 Targa or an R8 Cabriolet. While we have our own thoughts (Cabriolet please!), we would actually like to hear reader feedback which we will of course make sure gets passed on as appropriate.

On the powerplant topic, is the V12 TDI right for the R8? The combination of Audi’s pioneering work with diesel in its current R10 racecar together with the succulent R8 road car is very appealing indeed. Unfortunately, the V12 TDI is a very heavy engine so it is almost definitely not suitable for use in the R8.
