Audi: Sets out to turn heads and take over the luxury car market

Very interesting article here about the great performance of Audi in the last years and their ultimate goal.
Audi has been on a tear, becoming the fastest-growing luxury carmaker in Germany — and the world. "We have a very short history, so we talk a lot more about the future," said Rupert Stadler, who, at 43, became one of the youngest chiefs of a major German company when he took the wheel at Audi in January. Stadler made an audacious prediction: By 2015, he declared, Audi will be the leading luxury car-maker in the world. He is quick to note this does not mean selling the most cars per year, but setting the industry pace in technological innovation, brand image, and customer satisfaction. "Audi today is not what Audi was 10 years ago," Stadler said. "We are more ambitious, we have a different product portfolio, and we want to play in a different league." Its ambitions are on most visceral display in the R8, a 480-horsepower, two-seat sports car introduced last autumn. Professional drivers say the R8 goes wheel-to-wheel with the Porsche 911,
