Lamborghini: More versions, no ute!

Lamborghini
Lamborghini is planning more versions, but also gives an ultimate no to an SUV, as well as diesel cars and hybrids!
For sure, the major announcements will not be replacements for the current Murcielago, new in 2002, or the Gallardo, new in 2005. Lamborghini's products will live twice as long as regular cars, Winkelmann said, because of the high cost of development.

Eventual replacements for those vehicles will be four-wheel drive, though. Winkelmann says four-wheel drive is now a part of the Lamborghini brand and, although the brand hasn't emphasized that aspect of its performance, it does believe that superior traction of four-wheel drive is the future of the brand.

Still, four-wheel drive doesn't mean an SUV will join the lineup any time soon - Lamborghini would like to have a sport-utility vehicle in its lineup to succeed the long-retired LM002, but "the company has other priorities."

There are things Lamborghini never will have, Winkelmann concludes: there will be "no turbo, no diesel, no hybrid."
