Audi A8L W12: Upscale Audi a true gentleman's express

The Audi A8 is a real gentleman's car.

This car — from its all-alloy space frame construction to its engine — is already packed with just about all the latest and greatest stuff from an industry that's been hard on the development gas pedal for well over a century now.

But what a wonderful automobile for the well-heeled car guy this is. And I do mean guy. I don't see the W12 appealing to most women.

It has a very masculine personality, from its machined solid shape, to its men's-club interior ambience of leather, wood and brushed aluminum.

It muscles you around and you feel sharp bumps as shudders through the stiff structure and the steering column. The power steering itself requires noticeable effort and brake pedal feel is firm.

But none of this is criticism. The car is rock stable at speed, steers with precision and stops with authority.

It's a true gentleman's express in the old tradition, but jam-packed with 21st century technology.
