With the increase in size, the interior of the A4 is quite roomy. Sitting in the rear seat, we were surprised at how much legroom was available, even with the front seat set to a realistic position. Front seats are also quite comfortable. The trunk space is quiet impressive, with considerably more room than the outgoing model.
A4 will be available with a number of new high-tech safety features, including Audi lane assist, which warns the driver by vibrating the steering wheel if the car moves out of the lane without the turn signal activated. Radar sensors in the rear bumper warn the driver via a light on the side mirror if a vehicle is in the A4’s blind spot.
Available in Europe and North America
The new A4 will go on sale in Europe this fall with a choice of five different engines. These include two gasoline engines — 1.8-liter TFSI and 3.2-liter FSI — and three diesel powerplants, all featuring Audi’s turbocharged with direct injection (TDI). The new 3.0-liter TDI produces an impressive 369 lb-ft (500 NM) of torque at just 1500 rpm.
The A4 arrives in North America next fall as a 2009 model, and will be launched with the 3.2-liter V6.
