Audi Q5: Global timeline confirmed

Audi has finally confirmed the global timeline for the rollout of the Audi Q5.
Audi of America told Inside Line that its BMW X3 fighter, the Audi Q5 SUV, is slated for a U.S. rollout in early 2009, most likely as a 2010-model-year vehicle. The U.S. launch lags about six months behind the European launch of the Q5, which is on the books for around July 2008.
Bokich would not confirm engine specifications for the Q5, although it is expected that the U.S. version of the Q5 will be available with both four-cylinder and V6 engines. Bokich said the design of the Q5 is still "crystallizing." He scoffed at existing spy photos of the SUV, especially ones that show a "VW Tiguan with an Audi face." He said there are "no accurate spy shots" of the Q5 and emphasized it will not simply be a baby brother to the bigger Q7.
