If you like your wind-in-the-hair motoring to be of the hurricane style, then few cars pull it off quite like the Audi RS4 Cabriolet. With a 4.2-litre V8 engine burbling beneath the bonnet and quattro four-wheel-drive keeping it on the road, this is the fastest open-top car Audi has ever made.
A lot of V8s are intrinsically lazy, relying on their huge torque reserves for forward propulsion and demonstrating a stubbornness to rev. However the RS4 is different. With 420bhp available at a peaky 7,800rpm, this engine enjoys a good thrashing – and thrash it you will, because the accompanying exhaust noise is seriously addictive.
If you need a fast convertible that is stylish and well made, you couldn’t really shop anywhere else.
