VW Bus: Celebrateing 60th anniversary with big bash

VW Bus
As reported earlier here VW is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the VW Bus, grand-style.
VW has enlisted the aid of — who else? — The Who to serenade partygoers on Saturday night. "Magic Bus," a staple of the band's discography, was released in 1968 at the height of the antiwar movement in the U.S. VW issued a statement by The Who's Pete Townshend rhapsodizing about the VW Bus. "I'm the owner of a VW Bus together with my partner, Rachel Fuller," he said. "And we used VW Buses as transport in our very early days as a band. It was the cool thing to do."

The Hanover event will also include an open-air screening of the 2006 movie Little Miss Sunshine, which featured a beat-up yellow Type 2 bus that was critical to the road-trip story line. The weekend festivities kick off on Friday with an "historic automobile convoy" of about 3,500 VW Buses.
