VW Passat Coupe: New details and spy shots

VW Passat Coupe
We found new details of the upcoming VW Passat Coupe including some fresh spy shots and an illustration how it might look like. Not bad!
The model is designed to appeal to family buyers who want added style, and clearly takes its inspiration from the Mercedes CLS. It will fit in the current line-up above the Passat saloon, and is set to come with a starting price that’s almost half that of the Merc’s £43,000.

Engines will be shared with existing models in the VW stable, and entry-level versions will feature the innovative turbo and supercharged 1.4-litre TSI from the Golf and Tiguan SUV. Diesel options will include the company’s all-new 2.0-litre common-rail oil-burner.

Higher spec models will be available with the brand’s 4MOTION all-wheel- drive set-up, and clever twin-clutch DSG gearboxes are also likely to feature. The sleek four-door is scheduled to debut early next year, possibly at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and will arrive in British showrooms before the end of 2008.
