Porsche: Shifting into higher gear in India

Porsche
Porsche is expanding quickly in India.
German Sports carmaker Porsche plans a series of new launches in India. To start with, it plans to bring in the GT2, a version of its 911 range of Sports vehicle, and the GTS, a version of its Cayenne luxury Sports utility vehicle (SUV), by early 2008.

Porsche plans to launch the luxurious four-door Panamera by the end of 2009, and the hybrid version of its luxury Cayenne in 2010, indicated Ian Reynolds, MD, Porsche Centre, Mumbai & Delhi.

The Cayenne is currently the best selling range in India. In the Sports car segment, the company has a presence with Boxer, Cayman and 911 range. “The SUVs segment is bigger in India. But even Sports cars are picking up in the country,” said Mohamed Rahman, after sales director, Porsche Middle East & Africa.

Porsche will close this year with sales of 140 cars, compared to last year’s 120 cars.
