Porsche Cayenne Hybrid: More details

Porsche Cayenne Hybrid
Here are more details about the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid.
Most hybrids, like the Toyota Prius, struggle to top 15mph on battery power, making the petrol-electric Cayenne's electrified 75mph the most powerful hybrid system yet.

But the hybrid Cayenne won't just be sporty, it's cleaner too. In a bid to answer critics of big, polluting SUVs, Porsche claims its greener 4x4 will average 'just' 240g/km of CO2, compared with 310g/km on today's entry-level model, the Cayenne V6.

The new eco-friendly Porsche currently averages 28.8mpg, but Porsche is confident that it will hit 31.7mpg before production starts. That's some improvement - the Cayenne V6 manages a somewhat thirstier 21.9 miles on each gallon.

Porsche Cayenne: More info and pictures of the TechArt Magnum

Porsche Cayenne TechArt Magnum
Although slidely old news for regular readers of The German Car Blog, but here are more pictures of the Porsche Cayenne TechArt Magnum. Looks great in white!
The revised Porsche Cayenne has been on sale for a while now, and Porsche supertuner TechArt has readied the next-generation Magnum for an official debut at the Frankfurt show in September. The edgier look of the new Cayenne has given way to a Magnum that's just as aggressive as the outgoing one, but is better-looking in a very angry sort of way. This Magnum looks like it wants to punch you right in the kisser and take your lunch money. Possibly your dignity, as well. The muscled-up bodywork is further accented by swanky Techart wheels and formidable quad exhaust outlets.

Lamborghini
Seems like a very good year for Lamborghini, following Bentley's footsteps, and posting record sales and profits for the first half of 2007.
Car sales have gone up to 1343 units, with the majority of them being the new Gallardo Spyder. The recently released LP640 also did well, doubling sales of the Murcielago over last year, and early results for the new Superleggera coupe are also promising.

Revenues were €222m (US$304m) and these turned a profit of €18.1m (US$25m) for the Sant’Agata Bolognese company.

Audi A3: Preview of next generation

Audi A3
Here's an artist's impression of the next generation Audi A3, coming 2010.
The first new A3 to go in production will be a 3-door sports hatch with a very dynamic line and an ascendant profile. The front will be even more dynamic than it currently is, and the rear will offer an inclined window. The other two will be a 5-door sedan and a convertible.
LEDs will be included in the front lights for daytime use, in the side mirrors and also in the rear as braking lights. The lateral protection strips will be eliminated for a cleaner design. The wheelbase will be slightly increased and the car will also be widened.

Audi R8: Here's Iron Man's ride

Audi R8
We found the first pictures of Iron Man's ride. Have a look at the numberplate and you can easily spot that this is Tony Stark's car. Please also watch a video from the movie shoot.
I was heading to the Con this morning when I spotted a pretty sweet ride emblazoned with the license plate "Stark 4" parked outside the Omni hotel. Apparently Tony Stark decided to drive his Audi R8 to Comic-Con in order to check out the Iron Man footage that will be shown off at the Marvel/Paramount panel later today. Unfortunately, he didn't leave the keys in the ignition, and after the summer of Transformers, I thought I might get torn to shreds if I tried to open the door on this baby.

VW Touareg TDI: Winning Pikes Peak high performance showroom stock

VW Touareg TDI
Three VW Touareg TDI dominated the High Performance Showroom Stock division at the 2007 Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
Volkswagen entered two V10 TDI Touaregs and a V6 TDI Touareg, driven by professional drivers Ryan Arciero, Mike Miller and Chris Blais. Arciero put on a strong performance on his way to winning the division with a time of 13:17:703, setting a new division record for the fastest time with a diesel powered vehicle. Mark Miller finished closely behind with a time of 13:25:247, and Chris Blais took third with a time of 15:48:312.

"The Volkswagen team put in a lot of hard work during practice and qualifying and it paid off in this historic race." said Arciero. "The V10 TDI is an amazing motor, and the Touareg chassis is so well balanced that it performs more like a true race car than a premium SUV. Shaving nearly a minute off last year's record time is a true testament to this vehicle's capability".
