Audi Japan has created a new and very cool looking microsite called Facts of Audi, giving you just that and more. Japan’s knowledge about Audi is still quite low compared to other markets, so this website makes a lot of sense. Besides all the cool animations, Audi Japan is sharing many interesting facts about the Audi brand and what we’ve heard is that this microsite has already been nominated for a design award. No wonder.
Here are some from the Heritage section:
– Their first imported car was a DKW back in 1922 and it was an electric car! Yes, you are reading right, an electric car back in 1922. So much about the hybrid hype. If you want to see the car, click on Heritage and then on “1922”.
– Audi was also the first company to do crash tests, back in 1938.
Also interesting to see how much passion Audi is putting into building cars. Did you know that it takes 36520 stitches to make the leather interior of an Audi A8? Or that every body of an Audi R8 is x-rayed after production for quality checks?
See more in Perfection.
The Design chapter is our favorite. What an awesome animation to show the different design stages of a car. Great! Flip through to see more about Audi’s design.
But this site is not only about facts, they also have some fun stuff. Go to gallery and download some really nice wallpapers for your desktop pleasure, including a dual-screen wallpaper for all us Mac lovers out there! To find them, just click on one model in Gallery and then follow the “Downloads” link at the right bottom.
