VW: Closer to come to WRC?

We found an update which might support our story from December and August that VW is considering to join the World Rallye Championship (WRC).

Volkswagen will kill its Dakar rally program after the 2009 South American event, according to sources close to the manufacturer.

The news adds fuel to speculation that VW is considering a World Rally Championship entry, possibly with the all-new Scirocco.

Two-time world champion Carlos Sainz, contracted to VW for the Dakar rally, is expected to carry out the bulk of any future rally car's development.
