Audi A3 1.6 TDI: 68.9mpg, who needs a hybrid?

Audi A3 1.6 TDI
Audi has launched the Audi A3 1.6 TDI which delivers 68.9mpg. Again the question is: who needs a hybrid?
Audi has launched its lowest polluting car ever: an A3 with an economical new diesel engine.

The new common-rail A3 1.6 TDI hatch emits 109g/km of carbon dioxide while averaging 68.9mpg.

The fuel saving comes from Audi's decision to fit stop/start as standard, which cuts CO2 emissions by up to 5g/km alone. The 1.6 TDI also benefits from brake energy recovery.
