Audi A5 Sportback: Not coming to the US, confirmed

Audi A5 Sportback
Unfortunately the new Audi A5 Sportback will not find its way to the US, at least for now.
Audi is enjoying great success both globally and in the U.S. market. The brand has recorded record sales and profitability globally, and we have achieved record levels of market share here in the U.S. Audi’s stated goal is to be recognized as the leading premium brand by 2015. To that end, our efforts in the U.S. are vital. Our current success, and that in the future, is based on a remarkable product portfolio. Audi has announced plans to grow its global product portfolio to 42 models, and many of these will come to the U.S. However, not all. In order to be a leading premium brand in the US, Audi must achieve the right balance on this market between our core products, such as the Audi A4 and Q5, and product derivatives, such as the A5 Sportback. We believe that we have the right mix of vehicles either available now or coming over the next few years. We will continue to keep an eye open to new opportunities, however, the A5 Sportback is not in our near-term plans.
