The design element is somewhat clear, once you get past the extra pair of doors, of course. At 185 inches long, 72.8 inches wide and 54.7 inches tall, the A5 Sportback is 7 inches shorter, 3 inches lower and roughly the same width as an A6 sedan. The Sportback also has a slightly shorter wheelbase by an inch or so. Cargo room in the trunk area is nearly 17 cubic feet.
Under the skin, the A5 Sportback will feature a total of six engines, three transmissions and both front- and all-wheel drive. There will be two variations of Audi’s turbocharged 2.0-liter gas engine, along with a gas-powered 3.2-liter V6. All three will use Audi’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Then there are three diesel options — a 2.0-liter, a 2.7-liter and a 3.0-liter, all turbocharged.
