The venue: Lakeside, Brisbane, one of the fastest, most frightening racetracks in Australia.
The car: The V10 R8, the fastest and most expensive Audi ever built.
The driver: a bundle of nerves.
Our safety briefing does little to settle those nerves, as former touring car driver Brad Jones tells us that, apart from Bathurst, this track has the highest average speed of any in the land.
Audi marketing manager Immo Buschmann follows up by letting us know the car we’re about to drive is the only one he has in Australia and there’s a customer drive day tomorrow, so please be careful. Oh and by the way, one of the journalists in the morning session had an off-track excursion.
