VW Scirocco R: Prices released

VW has released the prices for the VW Scirocco R. Can be all yours from €33,475.

The front-wheel drive coupe will use the Golf GTI's 2.0-litre engine but has been modified to give a higher compression ratio. A new cylinder head, uprated pistons and conrods, and higher-pressure injectors have all been fitted. The turbocharger delivers more boost and VW have fitted a new intercooler to cope with the extra heat.

The mods have helped to deliver a maximum power output of 261bhp and a peak torque of 258lb-ft ranging from 2500rpm through to 5,000rpm. As a result the R will sprint from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds. It uses a six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed, twin-clutch DSG is optional.
