Audi A1

Audi has released another great video of the competition kit for the new Audi A1 and it’s heavily inspired by racing. And that’s not a bad thing…

Audi has released a detailed CGI teaser video about the racing and rally inspired competition kit for their new A1 offering. The spot shows plenty of detail about this sporting trim package.

Keep in mind that the Audi A1 is targeting a new customer group, younger and more looking for customizing their ride to stand out of the crowd. How far you go depends on you only, but I doubt they will go as extreme as some Japanese tuners. It’s great to see that Audi is giving you a bunch of option at least.

Right, but every car maker is just wrong about that. Look at Scion for example. Who buys them? mostly 40 year olds – even the Bb. Kids have no disposable income for the most part and can’t afford this stuff. They do their customizing on 2nd or 3rd hand cars. It just devalues the brand to put lipstick on it with nothing to back it up. I’d be happy if I could get an Audi in the US without so many damn options. I had to special order my A4 just to NOT get a sunroof, and I don’t think that’s even possible anymore. Instead of adding these ricer options, how about letting the customer start with a base car and “customize” by picking the options we want? I have 2 A4′s now, but if I can’t get an S5 without a sunroof, I’m getting something else.

I don’t quite get it. Tarting up the slowest product they make? Isn’t that a trick usually reserved for crappier mass market brands?
